Wrong Number Phun

Here at AbleComm, we have a group of phone lines set up for hunting by our local phone company.

People just dial our main number, and if it is busy, the phone company routes the call to us on the next available line.

Nobody has any reason to know any phone number beyond the first. If a call comes in on line three, for example, when lines one and two are not in use, the call has to be a wrong number.

We get a lot of wrong number calls, particularly after our official closing time. Sometimes I let the call go to voicemail, but sometimes I answer and say, "Psychic Hotline. I'm sorry, but you've dialed the wrong number."

Callers often reply with something like, "I didn't ask to speak to anyone yet. How did you know I dialed the wrong...Oh!" (click)
