Product Description

Panasonic's new KX-TAW848 phone system is a great choice for business, home, or business-at-home.

  • Expandable system with maximum capacity of 8 lines & 51 phones. (Initially configured to support 4 lines and 4 phones.)
  • Technically, it's derived from the KX-TDA50; but you can think of it as a step-up from the KX-TA624 or KX-TG4000.
  • Works with multi-cell wireless phones.
  • Local and remote programming by PC.
  • Improved conference calling.
  • Supports up to four voice processor ports.
  • Caller ID on system phones and single-line phones.
  • MAIN REASONS TO BUY: you want lots of wireless phones, you want wide coverage with wireless phones, you want wireless phones with handsfree speakerphone operation, you want Caller ID on single-line phones, you want conference calls with more than three people, you want PC programming, you want rack-mounting, you want the latest.
Uses SD ("Secure Digital" card for program backup & restore, feature enhancements.

The KX-TAW848 works with two new 2.4GHz wireless phones: KX-TD7690 and 7680. Both have speakerphones and hands-free intercom, but can't receive voice paging announcements.

The premium “executive” model KX-TD7690 is a sleek and extremely lightweight unit styled like a cellphone, that can easily fit into a shirt pocket.

It has a 5-line backlit LCD display, a navigation key for line selection and feature access, and is equipped with a convenient 2.5mm headset jack. It has a long-life lithium ion battery pack, and can be used with an optional belt holster.

The lower cost standard wireless handset, the KX-TD7680, is slightly larger (more like a “pocketable” home cordless phone) and it features a 3-line backlit LCD display, navigation key, line selection and feature keys and a 2.5mm headset jack. It has a NiMH battery pack, and comes with a belt clip.

Up to four KX-T0141 "cell stations" can be used for expanded coverage. Each cell station can be up to 1640 feet away from the KX-TAW848 control unit, and connects with one pair of wires. No electrical power is needed at the cell stations. Up to 28 wireless phones can be "registered" with the KX-TAW848 system, but only eight wireless phones can be in use in the system at one time.

As you move throughout the coverage area, your phone's signal is handed off from one cell station to another without any call interruption. One cell station can support two simultaneous calls.

Wireless handsets can be registered on more than one KX-TAW848 system -- you can use your home handset on your office system.

We have a "dial tone emulator" that allows you to power-up a cell station without connecting it to the KX-TAW848, so you can pick a good location before running wire.

  • The KX-TAW848 can be configured for up to 8 lines and 51 phones (but a maximum of 25 phones can be used at one time).
  • The connection panel in the KX-TAW848 has spaces for four 4-port modules, and two 8-port modules.
  • There is also a space for the door intercom/opener module, and spaces that may be used for other modules in the future.
  • There are spaces inside the cabinet for modules that do not need ports for external connections.
  • The KX-TAW848 is equipped with two 4-port modules.
    1. One module, which can't be removed, can handle up to four multi-line or single-line
      phones.
    2. The other is the KX-TAW8480, which can handle up to 4 phone lines ("CO lines").

  • If you want to have more than four phone lines, you'll need to install an additional KX-TA62480 module, in one of the 4-port spaces.
  • 28 of the phones could be wireless (of which up to eight could be in use at one time, through four cell stations.
  • If you want to have more than four wired phones, you can use the KX-TAW84875 4-port module for multi-line phones, the KX-TAW84876 8-port module for multi-line phones, and the KX-TAW848 8-port module for single-line phones.
  • Intercom numbers start with 101. You can assign numbers up to 600.

  • It works with KX-T7000, 7300 and 7700 series wired phones, 7600 and 7800 series wireless phones.
  • Feature enhancements can be downloaded from the Internet.
  • Can support up to four voice processor ports (digital "DPITS" integration).
  • Supports KX-T7740 and 7040 DSS/BLF panel.
  • Can be rack-mounted to use with patch panels and other accessories.
  • Memory backup rated for 7 years.
  • Intercom circuitry is non-blocking: you can have as many conversations as you have pairs of phones in use.
  • Outside lines and phones connect with standard modular jacks -- no need for punchdown tool.
  • Paging output jack.
  • Built-in tone music on hold, or you can use an external source. (Two songs are built-in, plus periodic double-beep.)
  • Both serial and USB ports are provided for programming and SMDR. Excellent Windows programming software is included with the system.
  • Remote programming requires optional card.
  • Up to 10 3-party conference calls, or 3 8-party conference calls.
  • Optional Caller ID/Call Waiting circuit module. Each phone can log 30 calls. (It seems silly for CID to require an optional circuit module, since Panasonic is including free CID on other systems.)
  • Optional circuit module provides Caller ID to single-line phones, displays, modems.
  • Optional DISA/fax detection circuit module. DON'T use it for fax detection unless you want to use Automated Attendant and NOT have your phones ring. If you want your phones to ring, it's better to get an automatic fax/voice switch.
  • Optional door intercom/opener circuit for four doors.
  • Cabinet size is a bit smaller than the KX-TD816. It measures about 10-3/4"W x 14-3/4"H x 4-1/2"D when mounted on a wall.
  • Phone company dial tone connects to single-line modular jacks ("RJ11").
  • Phones connect with 2-wire or 4-wire modular jacks.
  • You can connect a PC with either a USB connector or DB9.
  • Music-on-hold and paging connectors are 3.5mm mini jacks.
